New Junior Advisory Board
The Kendall College School of Business Appoints Business Savvy Professionals to First-Ever Junior Advisory Board
CHICAGO, Ill. (July 7, 2009) - The Kendall College School of Business today announced the creation of its first-ever Junior Advisory Board, comprising of 14 Chicago-based business professionals from services industries and/or service-related occupations. The board held its kick-off meeting on March 2, 2009 and a second meeting on June 1, 2009, at Kendall's Riverworks campus in Chicago. The school previously appointed its first Senior Advisory Board in September 2008.
Appointed by Michelle Coussens, Dean of the Kendall College School of Business, the junior advisory board was established to enhance the school's services to students and the greater business community, while providing a leadership venue for junior business professionals in the Chicagoland area. Junior board members will provide students with unique mentoring opportunities including mock interviews, job shadowing, networking introductions and informative industry and job overviews. The charter of the Kendall College School of Business is to transform students into globally conscious decision makers who are poised for future leadership positions within the services industries.
"We appointed members who are very passionate about creating a sustainable program that helps enable students to give back to businesses on day one of employment," said Dean Coussens. "This distinguished group of individuals truly thrives on assisting Kendall with equipping students with the skills and business savvy needed to excel in today's global workforce."
Junior Advisory Board members were precisely chosen to include professionals with 5-10 years of business experience in the services field across both private and public industries, not-for-profit organizations and government. Members include: Anne Brown, GradtoGreat.com; Erin Carpenter, personal stylist; Emily Engel, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago; Jenny Glassberg, AFLAC; Tracy Hypke, BlueCross BlueShield Association; Karim Khowaja, PWM-Midwest; Matt Maday, On-Call Interactive; Barbara Maldonado, Marketing Resources; Kyle McHugh, Drinks Over Dearborn; Emily Olson, Food Marketing Support Services; Una Pipic, Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center; Sheila Quinn, consultant; Tim Richards, Richards Graphic Communications, Inc.; Jackie Schwartz, Signature Body and Mind Solutions.

Students not only have the opportunity to learn and practice business skills through the mastery of theory, but also through the unique method of performance. Kendall's courses are built on concepts taught through simulations, case studies, "adopt a business," and other applied interactive techniques.
